Increasing Material Costs

DISCLAIMER: Prices are going up!

It should come as no surprise that the printing industry, like many others since the start of the pandemic, is experiencing increased material costs in every facet of our business. Most notably, with paper. Paper prices have gone up every month for the past several months, and another increase is expected on August 1.

On top of price increases, availability is hit or miss. Talk about a one-two punch!

If you haven’t already gotten a note with your quote that there are paper increases coming up or that the stock quoted is unavailable, has to come from the mill, or worse, has to be manufactured, consider yourself lucky. If the paper your project calls for is out of stock or has limited availability at time of quoting we’ll let you know, along with any upcoming price increases that may affect your order. We’ll quote it both ways for you: if the order comes in before the increase, or if it comes in after.

We’re also seeing price increases on other raw materials like coatings, inks, solvents, varnishes, and plates, with their costs having gone up substantially over the past few months as well.

If you have a project coming down the pike, and you’re able to plan ahead, please reach out and start the process now. We can alert you to any obstacles your project may face and help you reroute to keep your project moving and completed on time.
